Winter Hat Owl Page 7 Complete
Started March 17th, and finished April 18th. 7315 stitches in total.
I'm not going to lie, I found the grey area of the hat to be arduous, finicky and endless confetti. It seems like such a small amount, but man, did it ever slow me down. I originally started cross country, but had to resort to doing a line at a time. I'm glad this page is over! The next page is all blue, so it will be a fast stitch.
But first, back to Adrift and her beautiful tail.
I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before, but I like to color what I've done - especially HaED's. It keeps things organized and helps me see at a glance what I have stitched and where I am. I used to use pencil, then I graduated to Frixion highlighters, which are erasable, for those times we make a little mistake here and there. Well, thanks to Ebay, I've managed to get my hands on a set of their pens. Frixion .07.
To say these pens are awesome, is an understatement! And so many pretty colors. These should do me for years. (Or until the end of Adrift - whichever comes first! ha ha)
In any case, I thought I'd through a shout out to these. I highly recommend them!
That's about all that's new in my little corner of the blogging world. Hopefully I've have an update within a month.

You have my admiration for your perseverance with Winter Hat Owl and all those greys! Congratulations on another page finish. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rach! This page was challenging, I'm not gong to lie. There was a few days where I just sat and looked at it more than I stitched. I've never had that reaction to a cross stitch before.
DeleteI hope the worst is over.
Congrats on a great page finish! This is looking awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie! Any page finish is cause for celebration, in my world!
DeleteRegardless all that confetti stitches, you've made great progress. Well done Rachel!
ReplyDeleteConfetti stitch can certainly be a PITA, but when the page is finished, the outcome is always worth it!
DeleteIt's looking really good - I'm glad you'll get a break from the finikiness!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, I'm back on Adrift and enjoying working on a large patch of watch, which is pretty quick and simple. It makes for a nice change.
DeleteHello
ReplyDeleteGreat progress, this owl is gorgeous.
Great idea to colour as you go.
Happy Monday Rai Rai x
Thanks! Coloring as I go is the only way I can keep track of where I am. I'd be so lost without it.
DeleteCongrats, I know these require a lot of hard work! Your owl is simply so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteHaED's are always SUCH work, but the outcome is always so worth it! I know I grumble, but I secretly (or not so secretly) love it.
DeleteI may have to check these highlighters out! I used to use highlighters, but I would goof so many times, I switched to colored twist up pencils.
ReplyDeleteI love them. I also have them in .05, which is a nice precise tip. They erase easily and don't ruin your paper.
DeleteWhen I found them, I swear the clouds opened and I could hear a chorus of angels singing!
Your Winter Hat Owl is looking fabulous! Worth sticking with it.
ReplyDeleteOh absolutely! There is zero chance of me binning it. I do like getting to the end of a page so I can take a break from it. But I'm loving watching him appear line by line.
DeleteYour owl is looking great! Hi five for getting through all that confetti. :) Thanks for the tip about the highlighters too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ang! (That's my sister's name, btw) Try the Frixion pens. You won't be disappointed!
DeleteGreat stitching, and thanks for sharing about the pens/highlighters.
ReplyDeleteThanks! And you're welcome! The highlighters are AWESOME!!! They come in .3mm .5mm and .7mm. LOVE LOVE LOVE them!
