Adrift, Page 21 is Complete

Started October 8 and finished Oct 26.  Lots of water and hair with just a peek-a-boo of the tail, so a quick stitch overall.   The next page will be nearly all tail.  It's surprising how much I look forward to working on that.
So this is page 21 complete. Would you believe I still have 15 more pages to do?  *wibbles*

I have all ready purchased my next project, that I anticipate starting some time in the new year, as there are only 5 more pages of the Owl left to do.  I anticipate I will be working on Adrift for the better part of another year - just enough time for me to start saving up for framing her!  After what will be a 3 year project, I will be sparing no expense on framing!

So, I was stitching with my usual group of girls on this past Sunday, and an elderly gentleman came into the store.  He must have spent a good 45 minutes in there, on the phone with his wife, picking up various things and explaining to her in detail what they were ask asking if she would like one.  He pulled threads, picked up various patterns, discussed in detail the difference between the benefits of Aida versus linen, and then spent the longest time of all at the accessories shelf, picking up various things.  He then exchanged a few cheeky barbs with the stitch-n-bitch ladies before he went on his way.  But he sparked a healthy debate on what makes a good man - to which we all heartily agreed he was one!   But just curious now, does your partner support your stitching addiction?  I'm lucky because my hubby doesn't bat an eye when I come home with a $300 frame I bought with my Christmas money, nor does he complain when I ask him to dart into the local stitching store in order to pick me up one colour I'm low on.  He's even been known to feign interest when express frustration on shipping costs when I find something I want.  In short, he's a good one.

Well, it's nearly Halloween, and it's a struggle keeping my kitty cats in.  One is all black and I do worry for him during this time of the year.  He's a darter when you open the door, he's out, so on Halloween night we oppress him by locking him in the bathroom while the kidlets come to the door.

(This is the face of the oppressed)

And on that note, I hear him scratching at the door.  I hope you all have a happy Halloween and happy stitching.

  1. I haven't commented for a while but have been following your progress on Adrift and Owl. You still have my total admiration for sticking to just two WIPs. I really don't know how you do it!
As for my other half, he's relatively unaware of my stash and number of WIPs and I think it should stay that way - for his sake!! :)

    1. It's called "finances", Rachel. I just can't afford to have multiple projects on the go at any given time. It's the reason why I stopped doing Mirabilia's. I was just stitching them too fast, and with the cost of all of the beads and accessories, it was too expensive. At least Heaven and Earth Designs keep me busy for a year or more. Plus, I always have the end game in mine - the finish. That also helps me from getting too excited to start a new project. But now that Winter Hat Owl is winding down, I've got my next one lined up. I'm so excited too!

  2. Adrift is looking amazing! I wouldn't be marrying my man if he didn't support my hobby haha. Seriously though, he is very supportive and always gives me an opinion if I ask him for it.

    1. I hear ya! Plus mine is into computers. So he has his hobby and I have mine. I think hands down, his is more expensive, so that gives me wiggle room when I want to buy the expensive items!

  3. Lol he looks very put out ;). Adrift is great but I can't believe you still have that much left! My hubby kind of takes it all in stride. I think he's finally starting to resign himself to the fact that this will be a permanent thing in our lives. He still groans and gripes when I tell him I need to run to the craft store but I know if I really needed something he would get it for me.

    1. Oh he was very put out. Tomorrow is Halloween and it will be a bad day for him. Imprisonment in the bathroom - because he shows his displeasure by piddling on the bed, if we lock him in the bedroom.

    1. Thanks! It shouldn't be too long, because I'm already half way through the page of Winter Hat Owl, so I should be back to working on Adrift in a week or so.

    Great progress on Adrift.
Hubby is supportive... providing he can spend the same amount of money on his Lego addiction :D

    1. Ha ha ha, it's all about the give and take, isn't it? Sometimes I have to wait a bit if I want something super expensive, but it's never outright denied.
      We're spoiled, aren't we?

  6. Wow.....gorgeous!!! Congrats on the page finish. I don't blame you for looking forward to working on the tail. Even though it will have a lot of confetti the after look will be SO worth it!

My husband is the best. He sounds just like the guy you are talking about. He cares deeply about my hobby. He totally understands most the terms we use. He enjoys helping me pick out projects. I'm so thankful.

    1. Wow, Katie, you have got yourself what we like to refer to as "a gooder". Mine doesn't really know the acronyms or things like that, but he is in my local store enough for the owners and workers to know him by name.

  7. Wow, you always seems to stitch so fast! Loving how Adrift is coming along. Can't wait to see your next project. (Why do you tease with no picture?) ;)

    1. This page was a super quick stitch, Angela. It was mostly just 3 colours, with bubble here and there. It's amazing how fast you can turn a page out when it's just 3 colours!

  8. Adrift looks amazing. I really admire your tenacity with these huge projects. I think the larger pieces are great value as far as hobbies go - just think how many hours of pleasure you must have had stitching on your beautiful HAED charts.
My husband has little interest in my stitching I'm afraid. He doesn't really like anything "hand-made".

    1. Exactly, Justine! These projects take time, and I've gotten hours and hours of entertainment from this. I do think the mini's have a certain appeal, though. 12 pages versus 42 is becoming more and more appealing!

  9. Your stitching looks great, that's great time for a page finish!
Mine is pretty good,as far as he's concerned my money is just that, so it's fine! And he also feigns interest when I talk about my stitching, which is good, and can name the majority of my projects

    1. Wow, your hubby can name your projects? I'm not sure that mine could. He'd probably refer to my projects as the fish and the owl.
