Adrift, Page 32 is Complete

I am now 92% complete!  I'm in the 90's!  I think this is the fastest I've ever stitched a complete page. I started this on Nov 24 and finished just after midnight on Dec 1.  To be fair, it was less than 10 colours, the majority of it being 3371, so it was easy to put all of the other colours in first, and then just watch season 2 of Poldark and not even have to think about what I was stitching.

Another bonus is, I've discovered on Ezpdf Pro, that I can crop the sides of pages, so I can crop the white space between pages out, set up the tablet to read two pages at once, and voila, I have very little break on pages and can just continue on with stitching. A far cry from Goodreader, which made us flip between pages and then always defaulted to the bottom of the previous page and the top of the next.  It's these little user friendly details that make all the difference in an app.   If the programmers at Goodreader were smart, they would tap into this market.

I'm back on Snow, it's about a 3/4 page, but I'm about to start the December rush, where I work almost non-stop, so I'm not sure how much stitching I will be able to do.   But come January 9, I start a new job, with a dedicated schedule!  No more 12 hour shifts, no more 7am-7pm, or worse, 7pm-7am.  I will be doing 8 hours, which will leave me dedicated time to stitch.  Of course I won't have those marathon nights any longer, where I was shifting from day schedule to night schedule and I would just sit and stitch for hours (goodbye 1500 stitches a sitting)  but the new job is a good thing.  It will be nice to have a routine and a set schedule again.   January 9th can't come soon enough.

I hope to have an update of Snow soonish for you all.

  2. You go girl! You are so close to finishing. Can't wait to see it done. EZPdf if great isn't it? I love the search function. It's the only app that lets you do that. I haven't tried the 2 page thing yet. I may have to go try that right now.

    1. It's in the menu function, in the android version. You will find the crop page there too. I bought an android and this version specifically because of the search feature, but there are so many other details that make it brilliant!

    1. I'm so excited! Too bad December is horrendously busy and I won't have much stitching time. But bring on January!

    1. I sneak in time whenever I can. I have a dedicated stitching corner, so it's just a matter of sitting down and picking her up. You'd be surprised how much you can do in an hour when you're under the gun!

  6. I'm behind on your updates, but that means I got to read two at once so that's hardly a tragedy.

Adrift is, as always, lovely. A whole page with just ten colors sounds like wonderful stitching, especially when it comes together in such loveliness. I know I sound like a suck up or something, but seriously. I love the way her tail looks. Looking up close you wouldn't think it would translate to looking so delicate and detailed, but it does.

That's so cool about Ezpdf Pro. I've manually stitched pages together like that and it's a pain in the butt. It would be so nice to work in a program that accommodates in-program.

Good luck with your new job and congratulations! That's exciting news.

    1. Honestly, I'm banging out page finishes so quickly now, I'm surprised anyone has a chance to follow, much less comment. So thank you!!!

I agree, the tail of Adrift is almost like lace when you see her stitched. She is just so delicate! I just have a tiny bit of her tail to finish and then just water and bubbles. So, so close!

If you haven't tried stitching with a tablet, it is a must! It's so much quicker! Of course, there is a learning curve, but once you take it it, you will never go back.

The only thing is, you must buy your patterns in PDF. If you just covert a chart to .pdf, the program will see it as a picture and not an editable document. But I say try it!

    2. Yes! The pdf thing! I wish I understood that better. The charts that I have created myself are pdf, but I can't search them because for some reason they aren't editable. I wish I could figure why because I love stitching that way.

    3. Should you should you ever want to try .pdf, I'll be happy walk you through how to work it. They really are pretty easy, once you're shown how to do it.

    4. Oh, I do use pdfs all the time. It's just that the program I use to created my own charts (http://www.chestnutpens.co.uk/misc/downloads.html) saves the pdfs in such a way that for some reason they aren't searchable. I wish I understood it a little more so that I could find a workaround so that they were.

  7. WOW how exciting! I have never been in the 90's for a bap. So happy for you. You're stitches are so neat. I work 12 hour shifts too. And I love the day to night switch, that is the best time to get that progress going. I'm sure you will make it up in other ways now though. Good luck in your new job. Thanks for the Ezpdf.Pro info I've been looking to change from paper charts to pdf. So all recommendations from stitchers are awesome. Thank you

    1. Oh Alicia, run, don't walk, to the nearest computer store and get yourself a Samsung Tablet. (Ezpdf works best on an Android)

There are other apps too, for iPad there is Goodreader, but there isn't a good search function on it. There is also Documents, PDF Expert, Foxit, Tiny PDF, etc. Lots and lots to choose from. Personally, for my needs, I've found EzPdf is the best..
Let me know if you try this and what you think!
