Snow Stocking Page 7 Complete

44% Complete for this project.  It's like music to my ears.  This was my last full page, all the rest are partials, so it's all downhill from here!

Just a quick update tonight, because my husband is cooking pizza and that trumps blogging. I have about 20 minutes to get this up and posted and the clock is ticking!

I'm back on Adrift, and I'm expecting this next page to be a quick stitch.

I have to say, for Adrift, I'm working on Lugana, and for Snow I'm working on 18 ct Magic Guide. Although, for me, Magic Guide is less hassle as you don't need to grid, I find Lugana more pleasurable to stitch on.  I find with Aida I have to stitch a tighter stitch, and it strains my fingers.
Has anyone else encountered this?

My next projects will be on Lugana, I think I'm pretty much done with Aida.

Curious to know what everyone's favourite cloth is to stitch on? Linen? Lugana? Aida?  Anyone have a preference?  I personally find Lugana softer, but the downside is sometimes stitches can slip under the weave and I have to really watch for that happening and correct it as I go.  Otherwise, I quite enjoy stitching on it.

I'd love to hear what you like/don't like about your fabrics.

I smell pizza, so sorry to cut this short...but pizza!!

  1. The newest piece on the dress looks lovely. I hope those partial pages go quickly. I have really enjoyed stitching on linen and evenweave although sometimes the stitches will slip under. I find aida is a very stiff fabric and more annoying to get my needle through.

    1. Honestly, I do too. I don't like a stiff fabric, I prefer softer.
I didn't mind linen, but I haven't stitched on linen since discovering evenweave. That's my comfort zone and I loathe to leave it.

  2. Beautiful progress! I prefer evenweave. I do like Aida for some things though. Linen I really don't enjoy since the unevenness of it bothers me so much.

    1. Evenweave for me too. I didn't think I minded Aida, until I stitched two projects, one on Aida and one on Lugana. That's when I realize I really do have a preference.

  3. I love this and can't believe it's cross stitch! It's so detailed. I'm not fussy about fabric, I like to chop and change.

    1. Do you know what's really funny? I really only see the detail once I've taken a photo. I think I'm stitching with my face too close in order to see the design emerging. I mean, I can see her face and everything, but the details on her dress only reveal to me in photos.

  4. Woo Hoo congrats on finishing your last full page on this beauty. The detail is so amazing! Well done. For evenweave I love Jobelan it is so soft and luxurious. The lowest count I will stitch on is 18ct. I don't mind it as it's easier to manage when using 2 strands. But I do know what you mean about it being a bit harder on the hands. It can be rough xo Alicia

    1. I can't believe how fast the pages are being completed now. It's like my fingers have a mind of their own.
I've had a few days off and I've put the theme to good use.

  5. Yay pizza! She is beautiful! I love 28ct Cashel linen. However I really haven't found a fabric I've absolutely hated.
