The month of July shall be known in my memory as the month that I worked much and stitched little. This page seemed to take me forever to complete. I started on June 23 and finished July 16 - a total of 7600 stitches.
Honestly, the monochrome color is hard to stay interested in, and I know that the 2nd half of this project is all water and tail. I actually had the very strong urge to start another project, but I am firm when I told myself that I couldn't start any new projects until I had a finish. So I will have to grit my teeth and persevere. I know when this is done, the water will have all been worth it, and to my benefit, there isn't much confetti when it comes to the water. It's just relatively easy, but boring colors. First world problems, indeed!
Now I am off to work on my little owl, who, by the end of this page, will have one very stern eye glaring at me!
I will hopefully have an update for you somewhere toward mid to late August.
See you all then!

I feel your pain with long bits of stitching with not much detail. Hang in there:)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I will. I'm too far in to give up now. I always find the second half of a project harder than the first half. Boredom sets in and I go looking for other projects to start - which I then deny myself.
DeleteIt's like a vicious circle, or something.
Keep going, it does look so lovely already :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the owl update.. with that special eye.
Thanks for the encouragement! The owl is slow going. Work just keeps interrupting! It's not fair!
DeleteKeep going, it will all be worth it! She's so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm sure this row will be the hardest. After this row, the end will be in sight!
DeleteGood job on staying with her! She's turning out beautiful. I'm right there with you with the water but my project's water is blue and orange so I can't sympathize with colors lol. But I know the feeling of wanting a new start but promising yourself you wouldn't. It's rough!
ReplyDeleteRight? I call this part of the project "the doldrums". Not much excitement, but necessary, nonetheless.
DeleteI had the same problem this month...too much work and not enough stitching! Here's hoping next month is better!
ReplyDeleteI need to win the lottery, so I can make stitching my voluntary full-time job!
DeleteShe is stunning! I admire your determination and strength not to start a new project. That's an achievement in itself. I hope the next page is a bit more interesting for you. xo Alicia
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard! Must.Not.Give.In!!! I'm working on the Owl right now, so I'm getting my colour hit in spades!
DeleteNew to your blog, this piece looks beautiful, love the colors but can see how they would get boring to stitch.
ReplyDeleteHello blue star and welcome! Thank you for your lovely words. And yes, the colours can get a bit tedious, but whenever I'm done a page, I stand back and think "wow". It's what keeps me going. (Well, that and I"m too stubborn to quit!)
