First Finish of 2014!

May I present to you the Rose of Sharon in periwinkle with yellow roses.


Although this isn't the first conversion that I have done, this is my favorite by a long shot!
I changed the roses from pink to yellow, her hair form blonde to brunet and changed her dress to periwinkle with a yellow sash.

The changes were as follows:

She is my first finish of 2014, and quite possibly my only finish, as I am about to embark upon a 32 page Heaven and Earth "Adrift".  

I hope to post updates per completed page.  But sadly there won't be much to see until I have about 7 pages finished.

Rose of Sharon will be traveling to L.A. to adorn the wall of a much loved cousin who has just bought a house.  Her name is Sharon.  Appropriate, no?

      Thanks! I think she looks a little less "stark" in my version. A bit softer, perhaps.

      Thanks! I'm deliriously happy that she turned out so well. I had originally wanted to go to a very dark purple, but I think the lighter shades were the right choice in the end.

      I heartily agree! I had originally started them in pink, but it just wasn't working (to my eyes, at least.) So I picked out all of the pink and converted to yellow. I figured the other flowers toward the bottom of the pattern matched the purple in her dress, and that's what gave me the idea to match the yellow of her sash to the roses.

      Of course that set off new challenges as I then had to change the color of her hair, because yellow flowers didn't stand out. But the end result worked!

      Thanks! I'd been sitting on this pattern for years and I finally realized what was stopping me from doing it was the colors.

    I stitched this many years ago in the original colours and my parents have it framed on the wall in their living room...it looks really different seeing your conversion but you have done a great job!

      Will do you a conversion or will you stitch her in original colors? I find that out of all of the Mirabilia's, this one seem to have the most conversions! I've seen her done beautifully in red.

      I agree, Summer. I find the purple softened her, somehow. I found the yellow to be a bit stark, and sharp, somehow.

      I'm really happy she finished up so well.

      Honestly, I'd been sitting on this pattern for years. Possibly even a decade, and I couldn't figure out why I just wasn't motivated to do her, and then I saw a conversion to red and it dawned on me, I didn't like the coloring. After that, it was a really simple fix to change her up.

      I'm super glad I did! I really prefer her in purple.
